Give yourself the gift of Gratitude with Sunnyside!
The first summer of Sunnyside has been one of the fullest and most fun seasons I've ever had, and my only complaint is that it is slipping by too quickly!
So quickly that I haven't had time to post pictures of all the summer's excitement. I spent the first half of summer living in the moment and am taking some time today to capture some of the memories I've made.
Among this season's many highlights, some of my favourites include…
Participating in Trenton Elementary’s Literacy Day,
Pitching my summer story Canada's Ocean Letdown to a panel of publishers at Read By the Sea,
Addressing a group of young entrepreneurs at Ignite's $100 Youth Startup Challenge,
Donating books to Olympic Gold Medalist Jill Saulnier to support her philanthropic work for the IWK,
and developing and delivering creative wellness workshops for The John Howard Society's EDGE program, YReach, Teamwork Cooperative, and local recreation organizations.
Though I haven't taken many pictures or made many posts, I have made sure to capture all of this summer's special moments in writing as part of my daily gratitude practice. Infusing my life with gratitude practices has helped me shift my focus towards the positive aspects of my life and encourages me to find joy in the little things.
By consistently reflecting on what we are grateful for, we can cultivate a more positive mindset, increase our happiness, and improve our overall well-being. I encourage you to use this free Sunnyside Gratitude printable that will enrich your gratitude practice. This printable can serve as a visual reminder to express gratitude daily and can help spark an attitude of gratitude.
The benefits of practicing gratitude are undeniable. It can lead to increased happiness, improved mental health, and better physical well-being. By regularly expressing gratitude, we can experience reduced symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. We may also notice improvements in relationships, as gratitude fosters a sense of connection and appreciation towards others. Practicing gratitude can enhance our resilience, self-esteem, and overall life satisfaction. It encourages us to be more mindful and present in the moment, fostering a greater sense of gratitude for the present.
A gratitude practice has countless benefits, but the one that I am most grateful for is the gift of captured memories. I have been recording my most peaceful, positive, and happy moments for decades and am so lucky to have years of precious memories and special moments that I can relive in the pages of my notebook at any time. I think of this practice as a gift to my future self and often imagine an elderly version of me leafing through old notebooks, recalling my son’s milestones and my fondest memories.
Treat your future self to the gift of gratitude by capturing these fleeting summer memories while they are fresh and fill your Sunnyside summer with an Attitude of Gratitude!
Wishing you well,
Camilla
